I write about cultural and social implications of the changing of definitions.

Dana Pope is a professional speaker along with being a published writer and published songwriter. Her first book “Who’s Changing the Meaning?” is about the cultural and social implications of the changing of definitions.

She is a philologist as in Webster’s original definition, “Primarily, a love of words, or a desire to know the origin and construction of language; in a more general sense.” Driven by the need to learn Dana read the dictionary and The World Book Encyclopedia when she was a teenager. Her attitude is “There’s always something to learn.”

Dana Pope is a creator of business systems for start-up companies and companies that need a turnaround. This is accomplished by working with businesses on the things that affect ROI.  She focuses on their distribution process, financial planning, trend analysis, inventory flow, along with management and employee practices, to improve gross margin. Dana attributes network marketing as providing the knowledge needed for success.

She has written her first book “Who’s Changing the Meaning?” which will be out soon. The book looks at how the definitions of words are changing and what effect that has on us today.

Hear it from Dana

The idea for the book came in January 2009. At the time I was searching for what my path was and knew God was pushing me to write. I had several articles and one story already published. The amazing thing was that I could even write. My degree is in chemistry so writing wasn’t even on my radar.

The more I followed my calling the more I gained confidence in my writing. Then in January 2009, I felt the idea of the book come to me. I knew it wasn’t something I came up with because I had never thought of anything like it. There wasn’t anything out there that was even about that idea. With much doubt, I slowly dipped a toe into the idea.

I love doing research and learning about anything. The book called for extensive research so I enjoyed that part of the process. It was years until I decided that I had enough to start writing.

My motto was “Never give up on something you can’t go a day without thinking about.” I could not get the book out of my mind. Then in June 2015, I sat down to start writing. It was amazing! I had all this information and couldn’t get it on the page fast enough.

Any chance I had I would try to write. It was exhilarating and exhausting. Never giving up my book will be out in May 2017.

I don’t know where all of this is heading but I’m enjoying the ride. Dream big and then dream bigger. My ultimate goal is to earn a Pulitzer Prize in Literature. It can and will happen!
